This one’s not mine, but I have this part and I wonder if it’s got any value or usefulness .
I think it may be longer than the stock part. I owned a Hi Power for a minute, and a guy gave me this and it’s still hanging around.

It has to be longer than the stock barrel, because it is threaded.
FYI, actually installing that on a pistol in California could land you in the slammer if the pistol hasn’t been properly modified (needs one of those goofy CA mag releases).

Lovely. I don’t own the pistol any more. I like my wheel guns, though there are two rifles I’m interested in: a lever-action in .38/.357 so I can feed it my pistol ammo and a Ruger Mini-14.

Mini 14 is fun.

As long as the rifling in the barrel is good I imagine you could sell it pretty easily.

Would it take the NATO 5.56 ammo?

But I wouldn’t know how to or where to.

Ebay, Armslist.com , G unbroker.com , or take it into a local gun show and use it to barter at one of the dealers.
Ebay or local dealer be your best bet. Probably a higher return on Ebay.
For reference on a brand new item:

Thank you; that’s very helpful. Looks like I might get a few dollars for it. I won’t get myself indicted by the Fed for selling that part on Ebay, will I? I live in California...

List it on Craigslist as “steel pipe” someone will buy it

I believe buying, possessing, and selling is completely legal. I nstalling it on your pistol is another issue.

Because California’s gun laws are so restrictive and carry such heavy penalties, I’d call a lawyer and double check first. I’m sure most wouldn’t mind taking a couple minutes to answer your question without charge

No problem with that, it's not a serialized or restricted part.

Depends. 5.56 ammo will usually create greater chamber pressures in a .223 chamber than .223 ammo, but it shouldn’t do anything catastrophic . If you start seeing popped primers, then stop using 5.56.

Completely unrelated except that “Hi Power” immediately makes this come into my head:

Depends on how new it is. Some of them can be used eith either. The older ones are .223 Remington.

Interesting. I’d buy .223 for it, but in an emergency, it would be handy to be able to use the Army’s ammo.

Wiki says yes, like the guy said. I think mine predates the 5.56 and it’s not stamped on the barrel.

Newer Minis with the tapered barrels 2006 ish and up are fine for 5.56 nato or .223 Rem. I’m not sure about the older ones.

Someone will definitely want that. Sell it on armslist, eBay or track down a high power forum. There are no restrictions on selling, shipping, or possessing barrels or other parts, threaded or not . The us postal service leaves stuff like that in my mailbox all the time.
It’s only the frame or receiver carrying the serial number that requires a dealer and a background check.

I listed the part on Ebay for $90 plus postage and a guy snapped it up in less than 24 hours. Should’ve asked more...
Thanks for the helpful info.
